Comments
When a visitor to the site leaves a comment, we collect the data visible on the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser signature, to help detect spam.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also known as an acronym) may be sent to the Gravatar service to verify that you are using it. The privacy policy of the Gravatar service is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your comment.
Voiceless
If you upload images to a website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Site visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our website, you may consent to your name, email address and website being stored in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to re-enter your details when you add another comment. These cookies will be valid for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will create a temporary cookie to check that your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal information and is deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also create a number of cookies to save your login details and the screen display options you have selected. The cookies for logging in are valid for two days and the cookies for screen options are valid for one year. If you select the ‘Remember me’ option, your login will be valid for a fortnight. If you log out of your account, your login cookies will be deleted.
If you modify or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and simply indicates the entry ID of the article you have just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this website may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly the same as if you had visited another site.
These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into this site.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we keep your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata will be stored indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognise and approve any subsequent comments, rather than placing them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.
What rights do you have over your data
If you have an account on this website or have added comments, you can request to receive an exported file containing your personal data that we hold, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not apply to any data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
Where your data is transmitted
Visitor comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service.
